General Description of Position and Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Dean of Workforce Development, as part of the administrative staff of NWACC, is directly responsible to the Vice President (VP) of Learning: Global Business, Health Professions, and External Programs. The Dean has the primary responsibility for providing strategic leadership, direction, and management for all efforts related to non-credit education and training as well as credit culinary and hospitality programming. The Dean is also responsible for providing administrative leadership in the development of workforce education that addresses the needs of local, regional and global businesses and industries. The Dean supports the VP of Learning in sustaining a culture that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous quality improvement in a business centered environment. Direct reports include the Director of Retail & Supplier Education, the Director of the Institute for Corporate & Public Safety, the Coordinator of Culinary & Hospitality Arts, the Coordinator of Personal and Professional Development, Executive Director for Contract Training, and Director of Skilled Trades.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides strategic leadership consistent with the mission and functions of the College and Corporate Learning.

2. Manages profit-centered operations that maximize facilities and technological resources to support sales efforts.

3. Leads the development of educational services to support local economic development initiatives by collaborating with area economic development agencies to develop business recruitment and expansion strategies. Program development will include both credit and non-credit.

4. Establishes performance measures, monitors results, and evaluates effectiveness and efficiency of programs and services related to Corporate Learning.

5. Provides effective leadership in developing innovative, comprehensive training programs and technology-based learning mediums while also implementing and evaluating programmatic outcomes.

6. Provides professional leadership and supervision in recruiting, developing, and appraising direct reports and subordinates to ensure coordinated efforts in meeting the division and College goals.

7. Supervises the preparation of instructional budgets (Professional Development, Retail & Supplier Education, Building Sciences, Contract Training, and Culinary & Hospitality Management). Monitors budgets for expense control and revenue generation for the Corporate Learning Division, reporting monthly to the Vice President of Learning.

8. Collaborates with the administration and faculty on academic side of the college to joint venture in development of new workforce programs to enhance workforce development.

9. Supervises the development, evaluation, and revision of curriculum for professional development courses and programs.

10. Negotiates contracts, memorandums of understanding, and agreements with College clients to develop and implement program initiatives and partnerships; facilitates the process of grant applications.

11. Develops and implements a coordinated outreach, marketing and public relations process and plan for Corporate Learnings workforce training.

12. Serves as a member of the Expanded Cabinet and participates in the development and implementation of College policies and procedures, particularly those impacting workforce development and other non-credit programs and instructional staff.

13. Formulates and implements techniques to improve department policies and practices, increase efficiency, take advantage of opportunities, keep abreast of current trends and practices in the field.

14. Ensures the viability and integrity of workforce training programs by working collaboratively with the Workforce Advisory Committee, Retail & Supplier Education Advisory Committee, WIB and WIAs.

15. Works collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to support the Academic Quality Improvement Program and its related action projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide overall leadership for the division in the AQIP process.

16. Builds collaborative relationships and partnerships to increase stakeholder awareness and increase opportunities for revenue generation and equipment donations.

17. Works in partnership with the VP of Learning and division directors to develop, implement and monitor long- and short-term strategic goals that support the ends and goals of the College.

18. Takes an active leadership role in creating a positive campus climate that fosters innovation in workforce development career paths.

19. Initiates and supports efforts to secure grants and additional funding which supports workforce and economic development.

20. Lead the Corporate Learning division to profitability through innovative programming, Disney-like customer service and top notch industry-expert instructors.

21. Lead and direct the credit Culinary & Hospitality Arts division to maintain viability as an established credit program.

22. Duties as assigned by the Vice President of Learning: Global Business, Health Professions, and External Programs.

23. Serves as a member of the Deans Council.

24. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time position with benefits.
