General Description of Position and Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific Duties:
Teach Biological courses with the availability to teach mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends as needed. This individual must be qualified to teach courses in second field such as microbiology, plant sciences, cell biology, anatomy and physiology, environmental science, or environmental management. Science instructors teach and manage their own lab sections, keep office hours, serve on a variety of college committees, and perform related responsibilities as assigned by the Life Science Department Chair.
Preferred Knowledge or Experience:
Demonstrated teaching ability is the top priority. Instructional experience at a community college, on-line delivery of instruction, use of technology for instruction, and experience or interest in project based, service learning, or inquiry based learning will be given special consideration. Knowledge of good laboratory procedures, governmental safety regulations regarding lab safety is desirable.
Full-time (9 month) position beginning August 12, 2013.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience; this is a full time position with benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree with at least 18 graduate hours related to biology required. Fifteen graduate hours supporting the secondary science courses are also necessary. One year minimum of college teaching experience is expected. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted on approval of screening committee.

Work Environment/Work Hours:
Hours may vary and may require evenings and weekends. Additional to teaching hours, full time faculty are required to maintain 10 office hours per week.
