Dillon Stores Division Position Profile Position Title: Produce Clerk (May be required to meet demands as a salad bar clerk or nutrition clerk) Department: Produce Department Position Reports To: Produce Manager, Assistant Store Manager, & Store Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Profile last updated: January 2013 Position Summary: Prepare and display produce items for sale in an efficient, sanitary manner and in accordance with company standards & policies. Perform customer service functions and follow all company policies and procedures. Essential Job Functions: Prepare and display produce in a safe, neat, efficient, and orderly manner. Check product quality; make sure it is always fresh, safe, and merchandise is properly rotated. Keep sales areas, backrooms, coolers clean and well organized. Keep carts, tools, and supplies in their designated areas and well organized. Keep floors, clean, safe, and free from clutter. Unload trucks, sort, and prepare produce for sale. Work display racks to insure proper inventory levels and freshness. Provide good customer and associate relations. Able to communicate with customers and associates. Make clean, neat, and friendly impression on customers. Wait on customers and counter promptly and cheerfully. Greet customers and assist them in finding products. Follow all current rules and duties of the Produce, Company, and State and Federal laws, as made known. Must keep work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions. Adhere to company policies & procedures, particularly in the areas of dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and maintenance of a work environment free of unlawful harassment or discrimination. Qualified and able to operate power machinery and work with various job tools (box cutters, label guns, balers, compactors, jacks, etc.) Available and able to perform stock clerk duties and customer service duties as scheduled or assigned. Desired Previous Job Experience: Produce work experience or similar experience in food preparation. Past work record reflects dependability and integrity. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance, food handling, etc. Physical Demands: Standing & Walking Frequent standing & walking. Lifting & Carrying Max weight 50 lbs., average weight 10-20 lbs., grocery cart, U-boat, or flatbed can be used to avoid carrying. Pushing and Pulling Frequent pushing or pulling U-boats, grocery carts, flatbeds or supply carts with cases across store. Climbing Occasionally climb step ladder or step stool ranging from 1.5 feet to 6 feet tall. Occasionally reaching boxes/cases stored on shelves above reach. Other This position also requires frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling, as well as constant use of either arm or both for reaching in all directions. Frequently stocking lowest display shelves at 18 above floor. Other requirements include twisting, neck flexion/extension, cervical rotation, high grip strength, and frequent forearm movement. Work Conditions Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, sudden changes in temperature, hammering or impact tools & sharp edges.
