Job Summary:
The Accounting Department Assistant provides support to the Accounting Department by assisting with data entry and various projects.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Opens departmental mail daily and files or distributes as needed.
- Consistently and accurately applies General Ledger account numbers to invoices received to ensure expenses are allocated to the appropriate department(s)/cost center(s).
- Consistently and accurately enters invoices into accounting system for payment.
- Assists VP, Finance with accounts payable check run by accurately matching invoices with checks and prepares same for signature.
- Mails checks and files invoices after appropriate signature(s) have been obtained.
- Annually boxes current year A/P files for storage and prepares new files for next calendar year.
- Assists VP Finance with special projects and data collection for monthly reporting and annual audit.
- Other duties as assigned by VP, Finance or Accounting Manager.
- Supports the vision and values of Ocean Dental.

- Complies with all OSHA policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Adheres to all safety and infection control rules. Uses appropriate safety equipment.
- Complies with HIPAA and maintains confidential information.
- Reports ethics and compliance violations to Human Resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
