Graphic Design Instructor (2 positions)

Job Summary:
Primary responsibilities include teaching and advising students enrolled in an AAS degree program in Graphic Design, Photography and/or Multimedia Technology. Teaching load is five classes per semester (or equivalent), normally three semesters per year. The program strongly emphasizes career preparation and graduates receive instruction in both foundation as well as specific areas of interest.

The successful candidate will work with current faculty in this established program, be expected to teach in several areas/disciplines, possess strong interest and abilities, and provide leadership in keeping the program aligned with current industry and technical standards.

Additional responsibilities include providing students with effective advisement regarding their education, career, personal responsibilities and goals, and organizing and/or participating in student recruitment, program assessment and retention activities. Continual professional growth and development is expected. Must have strong oral and written communication and customer service skills, committed to education, handle multiple tasks and resolve conflicts as necessary, team player, and take initiative and assume responsibility. Final candidates will be required to complete a battery of characteristic analysis instruments and facilitate a 20-30 minute learning experience for a small group of faculty and students. Education and Experience
Required
Field of Study: Graphic Design or related field

Degree: Bachelor's

Experience: Bachelor degree in graphic design, masters degree preferred, and related industry experience required with a minimum of three years of related professional graphic design experience.

Skills, Proficiencies and Knowledge: Strong oral and written communication skills as well as excellent human relations skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and resolve conflicts as necessary. The candidate must be committed to education, working as a team player, taking initiative and assuming responsibility.

Teaching, graphic design, and multimedia experience will be given preference. Should be skilled in all aspects of design, using the Macintosh environment, Adobe software (InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop, DreamWeaver, Flash, etc.) and current digital processes. Use of Acrobat Pro, PowerPoint, Excel and digital photography experience preferred. Experience with retail packaging creation, web page production, and digital photography a plus.
