Job Summary:
Assists the manager in the performance of the unit with knowledge of the administrative and particular duties of that area, works with the policies and procedures of the University and maintaining the relationship with students and public through open communication. Responsible for the production of food which meets the quality standards for food service and procurement of food products which includes purchasing, ordering, receiving, and storing. Responsible for food cost and implementing effective control measures. Responsible for training and supervising the Graduate Assistant in the purchasing, ordering, receiving, storing, and unit inventory quantities for food and supplies necessary for menus. Responsible for the training, supervising, direction, motivation, and disciplining of staff. Conduct daily production meetings. Promote customer satisfaction. Implement manager's marketing calendar.

Required
Field of Study: Hotel and Restaurant, Nutrition and Dietetics, Restaurant Business
Degree: Bachelor's
Experience: Two years of experience in the Hotel and Restaurant Business, Nutrition, or culinary school. Must have worked in the production area of food service operation. Flexible schedule. Must have a valid Drivers license. Must have good interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of food ordering, storage, preparation , sanitation and inventory control procedures. Experience in working with various computer applications including Microsoft programs. Experience with hiring, supervising, training and disciplining staff. Ability to meet frequent deadlines with good time management skills.
Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses Must complete the LDP training program after hire, must complete within 3 years of hire date. Food handler's serv safe certification required after hire.
Skills, Proficiencies and Knowledge Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Experience: Experience with computerized menu management systems. Ability to work within a budget and promote cost control effectiveness, merchandising skills, and serv safe certified. Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and diverse college community. Strong supervisory skills with experience in training, supervising, motivation and disciplining staff. Culinary skills. Ability to evaluate and assist in the creation and implementation of menu items.
