Job Summary:
The Director for Economic and Workforce Development is responsible for providing visionary leadership, direction and oversight for programs, initiatives and support services necessary to grow and support workforce devleopment and economic growth for the state and beyond. Responsibilities associated with the position require a continual strategic outlook in order to develop and align effective resources to accomplish goals. These goals necessitate a close working rapport with business and industry, employers, campus academic units, other universities and education providers, community leaders, government officials, grant agencies and others. Responsibilites associated with this position also include involvement in international development projects. As a self-funded organization, the Director is tasked with leading, developing, and implementing innovative initiatives and solutions through a team-based approach.

Degree: Bachelor's

Experience: Minimum of five years related work experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description. Demonstrated leadership, project management and writing skills are critical.

Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses: Must possess a valid drivers license.

Skills, Proficiencies and Knowledge: Human Relations and Workplace Skills: Ability to foster a cooperative and teaming work environment where staff members model a positive and professional demeanor at all times. Ability to work and respond effectively to diverse audiences of clients. Must be flexible, innovative and self-motivated. Ability to manage projects, priorities and multi-task.

Communication Skills:
Advanced verbal and written communication skills. Ability to research, read, interpret and respond as needed to information such as requests for proposals, contract guidelines, reports, budgets and routine correspondence. Ability to develop and deliver oral presentations and written materials for a variety of audiences and multiple venues.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform mathematical and accounting procedures necessary to project and analyze budgetary expenditures for compliance with approved budgets.

Reasoning Ability:
Skill in researching, analyzing, evaluating, and synthesizing complex evidence and data. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills:
Computer skills to include database, word processing, spreadsheets, electronic communications and the ability to use specific software associated with the position is necessary.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to conduct research and synthesize data into reports and/or recommendations for determining areas of focus and priority.
- Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques.
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals for organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate a range of meetings and events.
- Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of marketing principles, procedures, and resources.
- Knowledge of current employment and labor market trends, community resources, occupations, job skills, and labor market trends.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and operating guidelines.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Field of Study: Related

Degree: Master's

Experience: Experience with development and/or delivery of educational programs or training a plus. International relations and involvement also helpful.
