Job Summary:
The IACUC Manager is responsible for facilitating the efficient and effective operation of Oklahoma State University's (OSU) Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), including daily oversight, implementation, administration, and management of policies and procedures pertaining to the animal care and use program.
The IACUC Manager ensures that the IACUC meets its primary responsibility of fostering a humane and compliant environment for all animals employed in research, teaching, testing, and training conducted under the auspices of OSU. The IACUC Manager administers the protocol review system so that it is compliant with federal regulations, institutional policies, and standard operating procedures, while ensuring accurate, timely, and complete documentation.
This individual provides consultation to OSU faculty, researchers, students, staff, and IACUC members. The IACUC Manager handles regulatory reporting and interacts with federal agencies, affiliated institutions, and institutional officials to achieve a comprehensive animal care and use program. Specifically, this individual works closely with the IACUC Chair, the University Attending Veterinarian, and the Assistant Vice President for Research Compliance
(A) Provide professional managerial support to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) to ensure that the University, the IACUC, faculty, researchers, students, and staff comply with regulatory requirements and institutional policies regarding the care and use of animals in research, teaching, testing, and training conducted by those acting as agents of OSU.
(B) Coordinate activities associated with processing animal protocols, whether for research, teaching, testing, or training to ensure that submitted protocols are reviewed efficiently and consistently with OSU policies and procedures, federal regulations and guidance, and state statues.
(C) Provide professional administrative support to the Assistant Vice President for Research Compliance.

Experience:
3 years of relevant professional experience in research administration and/or compliance.
Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses
Should be able to acquire designation as a "Certified Professional IACUC Administrator" (CPIA) within the first 2 years of employment.

1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
2. Solid interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and liaison with a diverse audience of professionals.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of pertinent regulations.
4. Ability to develop and present educational programs to a diverse constituency. Thus, teaching/training experience required.
5. Proficient computer skills, which includes word processing (MS Office applications) and database applications (MS Access).
6. Must be detail oriented, possess superb organizational skills, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
