Department Description
We are seeking a PLANT OPERATOR Associate for our Hutchinson, KS facility. This is a12-hour rotating shift.
Brief Description
Assist with or perform activities related to operation and maintenance of oil and gas liquid processing facilities under supervision. May be required to work rotating shifts.
Detailed Description
1. Assist with or operate processing plant equipment including but not limited to:
- Compressors
- Motors
- Engines
- Cooling equipment
- Auxiliary units
- Pumps
- Turbines
- Treating systems
2. Operate loading/unloading rack (as specified by position).
3. Monitor and control equipment operating conditions.
4. Start, stop, and operate equipment.
5. Assist with equipment preparation for maintenance activities including but not limited to:
- Permitting
- Lock out tag out
- Decommissioning
6. Assist mechanics and others in performing repairs to equipment.
7. Identify and report any safety and/or environmental concerns.
8. Compile and/or maintain information such as time sheets, work logs, safety/environmental forms, and equipment maintenance and repair records.
9. Drive and ensure maintenance is complete on company vehicles.
10. Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
11. Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
1. Knowledge of compressor station, storage field, gathering field, and/or processing plant operations.
2. Ability to analyze, adjust, and perform minor repairs on equipment.
3. Application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
4. Working knowledge in use of computers. Demonstrated ability to access and/or perform basic computer functions utilizing company software applications.
5. Knowledge of and training pertaining to:
- Gas and liquid processing fundamentals
- Applicable company and governmental operating practices and procedures
- Safe handling of flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems
6. Ability to read/understand drawings, diagrams, work logs, dials, gauges, charts, procedures, and operational and repair manuals.
7. Ability to maintain and prepare information such as safety/environmental reports, work logs, maintenance/repair logs, and time sheets.
8. Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively.
9. Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
Additional Details
CERTIFICATION/LICENSING:
1. Applicable driver's license.
2. Applicable certifications as required by position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10-15 times a day; up to 20 pounds 3-5 times a day; up to 30 pounds 3-5 times a day; push or pull objects requiring over 50 pounds exertion 10-15 times a day.
2. Travel over uneven terrain including but not limited to:
- Mud
- Gravel
- Sand
- Rocks
- Ice
- Snow
3. Walk, stand, and kneel/stoop for extended periods.
4. Climb and maintain balance on elevated working surfaces.
5. Ability to work in confined areas.
6. React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
7. Able to operate tools and equipment as required.
COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Communicate and/or exchange verbal and written information and instructions.
VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Able to distinguish between colors.
2. Sufficient vision to perform job duties.
