Description:
The Cardiac Cath Lab (CCL) Technologist is responsible for working as a team member with other CCL/Angiography Suite (AS) personnel and physicians in providing the technical expertise necessary to the performing of procedures required in the CCL/AS. The maintenance of the CCL/AS, in all respects, lies with each staff member. He/she is responsible for providing a safe and meaningful service to the patient. To this end, (s)he must be familiar with all accessory equipment involved in performing such duties, and be able to operate such equipment when required. He/she must have knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, hemodynamics and sterile technique. He/she must have a good understanding of the whole scope of procedures performed. He/she is responsible for providing the physician alternative techniques for successful completion of the procedure. All CCL/AS Technologists are expected to act on their own initiative in the operation of the CCL/AS.
Qualifications:
Required:
1. Two years of full-time, in the field experience (teaching, researching, providing, supervising or managing patient care and diagnosis in cardiovascular medicine).
or
2. An associates degree or equivalent college hours in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering or any primary science and one year of full-time, in the field experience (teaching, researching, providing, supervising or managing patient care and diagnosis in cardiovascular medicine).
or
3. A recent graduate (< 24 months from time of application) of an accredited cardiovascular program or diagnostic medical sonography program
or
4. A baccalaureate degree and six months full-time, in the field experience (teaching, researching, providing, supervising or managing patient care and diagnosis in cardiovascular medicine).
and
Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Registry eligible to take the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) - Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) exam and Successful completion of the CCI-RCIS registry within two years of employment and continued registry certification upon exam completion.
Preferred:
Two or more years of full-time invasive cardiology experience, ACLS and current RCIS certification.
