Purpose: The Computational Sciences and Engineering Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory invite applications for the position of Software Engineer in the Cyberspace Sciences and Information Intelligence Research (CSIIR) Group. Major Duties/Responsibilities: The position requires an individual who can immediately assume the role of a Computer Software Engineer and Software Programmer in a research and development environment that involves all facets of computer andnetwork security, SCADA security, and human behavior/insider threat. Position requires innovative thinking about hardware, software, and combinations thereof; technology evaluation; concept design; prototype development, implementation, and demonstration. Qualifications Required: Minimum Qualifications Required: BS in computer science, engineering, or mathematics is required and 0-4 years of related experience; or an MS and 0-2 years of experience required. The qualified applicant must have programming skills in C, C++, C#, and Java; with a demonstrated understanding of design patterns and software engineering best practices for secure, scalable, reliable, rapid implementation. Qualified applicants must have previous knowledge developing software requirements, architecture and design, construction, testing, and maintenance. Previous knowledge in developing technology systems to detect, classify, and protect against new malware attacks and vulnerability is required. Qualified applicants must have the ability to multi-task and work in a multi-team environment. Excellent communications skills for visualization and presentation of methodology, results, and demonstrations are required. The qualified individual must work well with others, and can independently identify and solve challenging technical problems. The selected candidate must have a strong commitment to ethical and professional values; maintains compliance with environmental, safety, health, and quality standards. It is required of this position the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse program (WSAP) testing designed position which requires passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in which employees are subject to being randomly selected for testing. The occupant of this position will also be subject to an ongoing requirement to report to ORNL any drug-related arrest or conviction or receipt of a positive drug test result. Preferred Qualifications: BS in computer science, engineering, or mathematics and 4 8 years of related experience; or an MS and 2-7 years of experience required.
