Purpose:
The Computational Data Analytics Group (CDAG) in the Computational Sciences and Engineering Division at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a Senior Researcher in the area of data analytics.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
The Senior Data Analytics Researcher will provide the vision and supervision to build a team of individual researchers to define and align its activities with the group and division science agenda. A key function is to establish and conduct research within the field of computer science with a special emphasis on data analytics and to lead basic and applied research in the analysis and understanding of very large volumes of structured and unstructured data using a variety of approaches, including statistical methods, machine learning, information retrieval, and knowledge discovery techniques. The candidate will build and lead a team of approximately 10 CDAG postdoctoral and staff scientists in basic and applied research in data analytics.The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting top-notch research and development on problems of interest to sponsors. Publications and presentation of research in professional journals and presented to the scientific community are expected. Frequent interaction with sponsors is a part of the work effort. Mentoring of staff members and student research associates to help individual professional development and evaluating individual and team performance metrics is expected.
Qualifications Required:
Minimum Qualifications Required:Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field, and a strong background in mathematics and statistics is required.Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of experience is required in the following areas: Data Analysis Machine Learning and/or Graph Theory Java Programming Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience in the following areas is preferred: Leading data analytics related research projects. Building and leading research teams. A significant trackrecords of sustained research funding. A significant publication record in data analytics. Strong interactions with program managers and top researchers.
