Purpose:
The Imaging, Signals, and Machine Learning (ISML) group in the Measurement Science and Systems Engineering (MSSE) Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a Postdoctoral researcher to work in the area of image processing and machine learning. Example projects include neurobiological image analysis involving segmentation and tracking, object recognition and tracking using unconventional computation platforms, and application of machine learning techniques to improve image analysis. Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is the nation's largest open science laboratory and the ISML group has a strong history inthe image processing and machine learning fields. More than one opening may be available. Major Duties / Responsibilities: The successful candidate will work with a team of Ph.D. and M.S.-level image processing experts to solve real-world problems for research sponsors and advance the state-of-the-art in the respective field.

Qualifications Required:
The research position requires a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering. The successful candidate must have strong coding skills and experience in the image processing and pattern recognition fields. Experience with MATLAB and C++ is required, and additional experience the following areas is considered a plus: Object recognition/tracking Computer vision Software engineering 1-D signal processing Biological imaging Biometric image processingThe ability to obtain and maintain a Q security clearance is strongly preferred. This position is a temporary, full-time assignment for up to 24 months, contingent on successful performance and continued funding.
