Job Location: Oak Ridge, TN

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support our Scanning Probe Microscopy Group. Our team aims to use aberration corrected electron microscopy techniques to empower artificial intelligence, improve big-data driven understanding of atomic structures and transformations pathways in solids, and develop real time feedback methods for control of bam induced transformations. As a postdoc, you will help us develop full information capture methods in Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) and work with a wide variety of 2D and 3D materials. You'll also be collaborating with an interdisciplinary research team to develop machine learning methods for rapid, on-the-fly analytics of the ptychography, Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS), and imaging data, and then implement these methods to enable electron beam fabrication at the atomic-scale. You will also participate in the characterizationand/or fabrication of MEMs-based in situ devices using helium ion microscopy and scanningprobe microscopy. This position resides in the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences Division (CNMS), Physical Sciences Directorate (PSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
In this position you will: Conduct 2-D materials research using aberration-corrected STEM and EELS, especially low loss EELS Advance in situ microscopy characterization and fabrication methods at the atomic scale, emphasizing understanding beam-induced material changes and probing atomic and electronic structural evolutions in situ Participate in characterization and fabrication using helium ion microscopy and scanning probe microscopy Collaborate with team members within and outside the quantum computing project at ORNL Present and report research results and publish scientific results in peer-reviewed journals in a timely manner
