Purpose:
The Cyber and Information Security Research (CISR) Group conducts cutting-edge research in secure communications, intrusion detection/prevention, situational understanding, signals analysis, visual analytics, and cyber-physical systems security to defend the nations critical infrastructures against attacks from known and future adversaries, understand the threat to provide real-time actionable intelligence from diverse data, secure the supply chain and critical infrastructure, and continuing operational capabilities, and defeat known and future adversaries.Our objective is rapid research, development and delivery of innovative end-to-end integrated solutions to hard and challenging cyber and information security problems. Major Duties/Responsibilities:
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to lead, build, and grow a team of researchers and engineers to define and align activities with the group and division science agenda. A key function is to establish and conduct research within the field of computer science with a special emphasis on cybersecurity, and to lead basic and applied research in cyber-physical systems security, malware analysis, trusted communications, network/host security, vehicle security, quantitative privacy, and cybersecurity data analytics. You will be responsible for building and leading a team of 10-15 CISR postdoctoral and staff scientists and engineers in basic and applied research within cybersecurity.You will also be responsible for conducting top-notch research and development on problems of interest to sponsors. Publications and presentation of research in professional journals and presented to the scientific community will be expected. Frequent interaction with sponsors is a part of the work effort. Mentoring of staff members and student research associates to help individual professional development and evaluating individual and team performance metrics is expected.


Qualifications Required:
Minimum Qualifications Required:Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field, and a strong background in cybersecurity research, with a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant research experience.This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy, which requires US Citizenship. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse program (WSAP) testing designed position which requires passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in which employees are subject to being randomly selected for testing. The occupant of this position will also be subject to an ongoing requirement to report to ORNL any drug-related arrest or conviction or receipt of a positive drug test resultPreferred Qualifications:6+ years of direct experience in the following areas: Leading cybersecurity-related research projects, Building and leading research teams, A significant track record of sustained research funding, A significant publication record in cybersecurity, Strong interactions with program managers and top researcher
