Chief Engineer 1104

Job Location: Oshkosh, WI

Shift: Full Time

Job Summary:
To provide technical data & assume responsibility for supervising detailers, design engineers, designers. Assure designs meet customer requirements, and corporate objectives are safe, and can be manufactured and produced economically.

Major Areas Of Accountability:
1. Coordinate activities for projects to ensure that they meet customer expectations.
a. Prepares schedules in order to ensure the customer receives quick results.
b. Analyzes incoming designs to be sure the design can be manufactured.
c. Determine whether customer requirements have been satisfied and evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
2. Operates a work environment in which subordinates know their authorities and responsibility. Assigns work loads to challenge and strengthen employees.
a. Determines priorities for items to be completed.
b. Assistance is given to others and utilizes motivation techniques to ensure that projects are completed on schedule.
3. Defines program objectives and requirements to both customer and suppliers
a. Contacts other departments to ensure that all questions have been answered
b. Analyzes feedback from customer and suppliers regarding performance
4. Assume engineering responsibility for assigned program. Provide leadership to a large technical staff to ensure program success.
5. Prepare plans and assign projects and responsibilities to subordinates. Coordinate their activities and assist them with problem analysis and decision-making, as required.
6. Conduct performance reviews of subordinates and recommend position or salary changes.
7. Maintain effective communication with suppliers, customers and internal departments concerning technical issues affecting the program.
8. Provide management to technical staff including resource planning, scheduling, and administration.
9. Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted with the framework of company policies and procedures.
10. To be able to attain a commercial driver's license if required to accomplish assigned projects.
11. Provides assistance in service activities and manual preparation.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor or Master Degree in engineering. 10+ years related experience. Mechanical skills inventory will be required to determine mechanical aptitude.
