Position Description
Design new, modified, or improved components and basic parts in accordance with engineering standards.
Position Responsibilities
1. Prepare vehicle layouts and component part drawings with supporting calculations, i.e., weight distribution, etc.
2. Select parts and/or design components for cost and quality-conscious design.
3. Follow project on the assembly floor or through prototype build when instructed by supervisor, and render assistance as necessary.
4. Generate bills of material and assembly drawings as required by project.
5. Adhere to time schedules.
6. Consult with suppliers, customers, and members of Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Assembly, Service, Testing, Quality Control, and Marketing departments.
7. Utilize various state-of-the-art-engineering tools, i.e., a personal computer (PC) or (CAD) equipment, in assigned projects as applicable. Proficiency in CADAM and CATIA required.
Basic Qualifications
Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Design or a related field preferred or a high school diploma with equivalent experience. 3 or more years related experience. Mechanical skills inventory will be required to determine mechanical aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications
Catia V4 or V5 experience preferred. Experience with manufacturing processes such as fabricating, machining, and casting desired. Experience with creating electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics. Experience with electrical harness design and sound routing practices.
