Senior Design Engineer 3062

Position Description
High level non-supervisory engineering work involving broad design assignments in directing projects of considerable scope and complexity. Design, new, modified, or improved components and kits for service applications in accordance with engineering standards & project scope of work. Design requirements will cover components and assemblies on all new and existing defense product lines and will require working closely with product line engineers to adapt existing designs for service applications.
Position Responsibilities
1. Plans and directs engineering in a major project through all phases of innovation and development.
2. Establishes priorities for work delegated to others.
3. Assists in feasibility studies on proposed projects.
4. Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
5. Select parts and/or design components for cost and quality-conscious design to meet service applications.
6. Follow project on the assembly floor or through initial build and render assistance as necessary to support manufacturing and industrial engineering efforts.
7. Consult with suppliers, customers, and members of Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Assembly, Service, Testing, Quality Control, and Marketing departments.
8. Utilize various state-of-the-art engineering tools, i.e. a personal computer (PC) and CAD equipment, in assigned projects as applicable.
9. Possess a strong mechanical knowledge of vehicles and related systems.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. 3 or more years experience in a major design phase. Mechanical skills inventory will be required to determine mechanical aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have significant relevant design experience with truck and trailer chassis projects and knowledge of service application requirements.
