Position Description
Formulate and monitor plans and goals for assigned projects. Evaluate progress and/or results of existing or newly implemented processes and make recommendations for improvements if required.
Position Responsibilities
1. Research and formulate plans to accomplish major projects, including manpower estimates, cost estimates and work measuring devices such as milestones or critical path charts.
2. Direct or supervise assigned industrial engineers and technicians.
3. Monitor progress of major projects and make recommendations when needed including acquisition of capital equipment.
4. Develop sections of proposals that relate to the assembly process.
5. Cost estimate new product lines (major Q-request).
6. Render technical advice to other industrial engineers.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state and federal laws that affect assembly.
8. Research and make recommendations on make or buy products.
9. Research and make recommendations for the acquisition of tooling, equipment and fixtures.
10. Monitor current safety and OSHA requirements pertaining to assembly operations.
11. Support company Affirmative Action program.
12. Represent Assembly Operations on Corporate-wide projects.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 3 years previous Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering experience.
Preferred Requirements
Previous experience in a heavy manufacturing environment with a high operational tempo. Lean/Six-sigma certification. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Project management experience and previous team participation preferred. Related experience in automotive assembly operations to include line balancing, one piece flow and work cell layout.
