Job Summary
Each Commodity Manager is responsible for managing the global procurement and supply chain within their responsible commodity groups as it supplies to Oshkosh Corporation and its divisions. This role is responsible for overseeing and facilitating a team to accomplish this objective. They serve as a primary interface between suppliers within their commodities groups and have responsibility for managing the Oshkosh Truck Corporation relationship with these suppliers. They are also responsible for development of annual commodity-focused goals as well as launching and implementing activities and initiatives needed to deliver targeted results. Periodic updates to the Global procurement and Supply Chain Executive Group on progress towards team goals as well as providing commodity specific guidance to the annual Divisional budgeting process is required. These teams will also be responsible for designating suppliers as either Strategic or Non Strategic and be responsible for defining, prioritizing and coordinating assistance to Strategic suppliers, as needed, in support of commodity-focused goals.
Duties
• Lead activities for the development of global procurement strategy through a council. Manage supplier selection to achieve the best performance to Oshkosh’s 4 procurement priorities of Delivery, Quality, Competitiveness and New Product Development.
• Negotiate agreements and lead the implementation, coordination, and enforcement of agreements for the commodity
• Manage all global supply base relationship requirements within the commodity.
• Deliver world class supply base support to your internal and external customers.
• Lead the Global Commodity Councils evaluating the corporation’s needs and align the supply base.
• Facilitate weekly council meetings to manage/optimize overall supplier performance, review standard metrics, discuss market/industry factors, and perform competitive bench marking.
• Assume the role of “expert” for the commodity. Understand, track, and forecast the global supply base, market, technology, cost structure/drivers, and competition of the commodity.
• Drive continuous improvement throughout your supply base investigating new technology, improving efficiencies, and resolving chronic issues.
• Communicate and conduct meetings, presentations, and updates with suppliers, manufacturing locations, business segments/units, and executive management.
• Provide mentorship and training for fellow GPSC, segment, and divisional team members.
Basic Qualifications
• 10+ years of related experience
• Negotiate and manage all global supply base relationship requirements within your assigned commodities.
• Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering
• Ability to travel up to 50% (domestic and International)
• Proven negotiation and analytical skills
• PC skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent cross-functional leadership skills and the ability to influence/motivate others.
• Industry specific experience – fabrication of ferrous and non-ferrous material, including a background in welding, raw material, and paint.

• CPM
• Lean Manufacturing
• Program management experience
• MBA or MS in Engineering, Business, or Finance
• Global Procurement processes
• Cost management / cost structures
