Job Summary:

Drive and facilitates supplier development projects to ensure a supply chain capable of providing increased flexibility and responsiveness, improved utilization of asset, improved quality and reduction of overall cost. Leads/supports improvement processes with strategic suppliers for mutual and sustainable benefits by improving Oshkosh Truck Corporation and supplier processes. Works closely with strategic and operations purchasing to develop order fulfillment and flexibility plans. Will work with Strategic Purchasing to help implement commodity strategies ensuring a capable supply base.

Major Areas of Accountability:
Drop Everything:

• When a supplier delivery and or capacity constraints present a threat to Oshkosh Truck Corporation factories, the SDE will facilitate projects to ensure continuity of supply.
• Monitor delivery performance and ensure strategic capacity
• Identify projects and assist in facilitation and implementation to reduce the risk to Oshkosh Truck Corporation factories.

Mentorship:
• Work with Strategic and Divisional purchasing to assist critical suppliers plan for operational readiness before production.
• Develop production and inventory models to ensure the right amount of WIP and FGI throughout the value chain.
• Create data template to ensure all critical areas of production planning have been accounted for. (Machine, labor and tooling capacity, packaging, assist with PPAP when needed)
• Support Strategic purchasing commodity strategies by ensuring capable supply base.

Lean Deployment:
• Assist suppliers in joint process development
• Deploy lean practices throughout the value chain.
• Manage and work with the local and national MEP centers to assess and reduce Manufacturing Critical-path Time of critical suppliers.
• Work to identify potential cost reduction through Value Improvement/Value Engineering.
• Perform supplier operational assessments with new and existing suppliers when required.

Skills:
• Knowledge of Manufacturing Critical-path Time/ Quick Response Manufacturing
• Knowledge of Standard Lean Tool and concepts
• Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, preventative maintenance and corrective action.
• Knowledge of advance data gathering and analysis techniques.
• Excellent communications and presentation skills.
• Project management
• Knowledge of engineering (design/manufacturing), quality, purchasing, methods and quality.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering or technical related field.
• Internship experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 1 or more years experience in quality engineering and/or manufacturing engineering is preferred.
• Strong facilitation and excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Self starter and highly motivated.
• Strong statistical analysis ability.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing Critical-Path Time/Quick Response Manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Standard Lean Tool and concepts.
• Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, preventative maintenance and corrective action.
• Knowledge of advance data gathering and analysis techniques.
• Project management.
• Knowledge of engineering (design/manufacturing), quality, purchasing, methods and quality
