Description
SUMMARY
Reporting to the VP, Lean Deployment to develop best practices, continuous improvement revolution/evolution across the Corporation that delivers measurable and sustainable improvement in key performance indicators (KPI’s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement standardized facility/business dashboards of KPI’s (including KPI targets).
Develop a process to assess performance against KPI’s, creating associated countermeasures/sustainable corrective action plans and awareness regarding performance versus KPI’s.
Develop standardized processes for facility management to VP, Lean Deployment for approval.
Create a common “look” for an Oshkosh Corporation facility (ex. placement of KPI boards, lighting etc.)
Create lean manufacturing standards (ex., use of Kan Ban, minimally one Kaizen/month, 5S, and low cost capital alternatives).
Roll out training in all facilities on Lean principles and programs.
Introduce standardized Lean techniques and concepts including value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, Visual Controls, Pull/Kanban systems, etc.
Set new standard fro materials and production control/planning.
Assist in recruiting and maintaining a deployable core resource team with proficiencies in operations, continuous improvement, quality, and LEAN manufacturing processes.
Identify required resources to maintain and build continuous improvement culture
Drive breakthrough performance and expectations at each OSK site.
Support, train, mentor and coach plant leadership including functional leaders.
Multi-site experience with the Toyota Production System, Lean manufacturing, or similar operating system
Drive solutions to assigned tasks utilizing a proactive approach to problem solving. Build capability within site leadership by asking impactful questions and challenging current practices
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4-6 years of pertinent experience in various disciplines, including quality, engineering, operations, and manufacturing within a multinational or global company of at least $3 billion per year. In addition, the selected candidate should have the following successful experiences:
Leadership skills, is a team player with Enthusiasm and high energy, has strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of driving results
Strong, broad lean tool box knowledge – looking for practical application skills, not theoretical
Complete understanding of Strategy Deployment/Hoshin Kanri;
Articulate professional with outstanding leadership and communications skills;
Demonstrated change agent credentials (a proven track record of successfully leading change initiatives) and ability to work well with all levels of employees, from hourly associates to senior level management;
Excellent leadership skills in cross-functional, team-based environment, with the ability to effectively communicate and facilitate through encouragement, motivation and inspiration at all levels of the organization;
Experience with some form of company Business System; Danaher, Toyota, etc.;
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have a high energy level with industry, technology, and functional knowledge, with strong persuasion and people management skills. Further, the individual will have the leadership skills and business knowledge which will enable him/her to assume additional management responsibilities in the future. Lastly, the individual will have demonstrated the following competencies:
An assertive, yet collaborative and team-oriented leadership style, with experience influencing diverse components of a business.
Creative and innovative thinking to challenge current practices and ways of looking at processes across the organization;
High ethical standards demonstrated by the individual’s approach to business and the ability to set that tone for the entire organization;
A history of personal delivery of exceptional business results and an ability to inspire others to achieve peak performance;
Proven history of developing effective customer relationships.
Obtain credibility within the organization by demonstrating that he/she is capable of leading a successful total cultural change toward best practices, Lean principles and continuous improvement;
Establish the necessary processes for creating change that focus on continuous, sustainable improvement;
Track record of achieving results in challenging assignments. Builds relationships & Leverages organization for help and support
Strong organizational skills with project planning, program management expertise
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering Manufacturing or at least 4 years of relevant experience in a production manufacturing environment, implementing lean manufacturing.
Program/Project management experience.
