Director of Design Engineer

Job Description:
There is currently an opening with a manufacturing company in Cincinnati, OH for a Director of Design Engineering. The company manufactures gensets for the power generation industry. The ideal candidate will have previous experience with fabrication of sheet metal and electro/mechanical design. This position will provide a day-to-day administration and operation support of the design function and support to manufacturing and sales groups.
Responsibilities:
* Provide technical guidance for the design engineering staff
* Acquiring / developing engineering design skills, standards, processes and procedures to support all current and forecasted projects
* Design of enclosures and packaging for power generation systems
* Preparation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
* Preparation of fabrication drawings (Detail Engineering)
* Coordination with vendors and clients to resolve technical issues
* Review of existing products to optimize design and manufacturability
* Work to resolve sustaining engineering issues
* Responsible for editing and creating specifications
* Involves supervision of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers/Designers in the development of designs and design documents
* Functions as a Project Manager and/or Lead Engineer. This will include coordinating in house design document development, supervising in house project teams, and scheduling work to meet project deadlines
* Assist marketing efforts in order to sell company products and services
* Suggests and implements changes in design methods or equipment to continuously improve the business
* Ability and willingness to occasionally travel and perform field work
* Ability to interface with and support project management, sales and manufacturing teams
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates should have 5 to 7 years experience within the industry and a Bachelors Degree.
