Title: Lab-Medical Technologist-Technical Specialist Chemistry

Provides leadership and technical oversight in the Chemistry section of the laboratory for all shifts.
Manages personnel to include hiring, orientation, training, maintaining competencies, performance evaluations, and recommending disciplinary actions.
-Verifies patient and specimen identification before performing any procedure.
-Evaluates, selects, and implements appropriate test methodologies for clinical use based on the laboratorys scope of care and customer needs.
-Views the laboratory functions as an integrated service within the hospital and collaborate with appropriate departments and customers.
-Collaborates with appropriate staff to develop practice guidelines.
-Utilizes the QA/PI cycle to improve new or existing processes in order to prevent reoccurring problems and to continually promote customer satisfaction for the laboratory services.
-Maintains specialty knowledge in the technical areas in order to collaborate with the laboratory staff, the physicians, the nursing staff, and other customers on appropriate use of medical technology.
-Develops and implements quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures, proper functioning of laboratory equipment and compliance with applicable federal regulations; prepare and maintain related records.
-Enrolls and participates in a HCFA-approved proficiency testing program for the appropriate test according to DRMC Proficiency Testing policy.
-Resolves technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken and documented whenever test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance criteria.
-Utilizes the DRMC Laboratory QA/PI plan to improve the processes related to the entire testing system, including pre-analytical and post-analytical processes.
-Identifies training needs and develops inservice and educational programs based on current needs, new policy or procedure, or on problems identified during supervisory review or competency assessment.
-Develops and carries out competency assessment according to Laboratory Competency Assessment protocol.
-Recommends various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, merit recommendations, promotions, dismissals and schedules.
-Ensures appropriate scheduling of staff to workload.
-Performs simple to highly complex laboratory tests on patients of all ages in accordance with departmental polices and procedures.
-Assists in the development of the laboratory budget.
-Performs cost per test calculations and evaluates opportunities to reduce operation costs.
Bachelors in Laboratory Science or equivalent with a minimum of three years experience in specialty or Masters in laboratory specialty.
Three years in clinical laboratory required.
MLS (ASCP) or equivalent required. Specialty in discipline preferred(Chemsitry)
The hospital is 250 beds.
The position reports to the Director of the Lab.
This position is for a Chemistry Lab Supervisor(Team Lead/Technical Specialist) and will supervise around 8-12 FTE`s.
Compensation is based on experience but the range is 51-75K yearly and the facility offers full benefits and a relocation/sign-on package as well.
