Summary:
Summarize the overall purpose of the position. This is the principal reason the job is needed, not an abbreviated list of responsibilities. This position is necessary to improve overall plant reliability and efficiencies. This engineer will analyze energy usages and equipment downtime using statistical data analysis. The plant spends about $15MM / year in energy and maintenance expenses. This position is needed to analyze these expenditures and make improvements.
Function of Department:
Summarize the overall purpose of the department:
The majority of the expenses from an energy and maintenance standpoint for the plant occur in the Power and Process Department.
Responsibilities:
Describe up to eight main responsibilities and the percentage of time spent doing each duty. Main responsibilities are those that are of core importance to the job, even if the employee does not spend significant time performing that responsibility.
1. Analyze failures. Recommend and implement corrective actions. (25%)
2. Lead Reliability-focused Failure Modes and Effects Analyses teams as well as Kaizan teams where appropriate. (10%)
3. Interface with the Maintenance Planning and Supervision to meet maintenance objectives. (10%)
4. Further develop procedures within the PM system for plant equipment with primary focus on major equipment; turbines, fans, pumps, block presses, compactors, etc. (20%)
5. Design and install capital projects as necessary to improve plant operations. (10%)
6. Develop procedures and train personnel on operating conditions, safety, sanitation, and quality to improve equipment reliability. (10%)
7. Perform safety observations on a regular basis. (5%)
8. Perform electrical motor and natural gas energy surveys and implement recommendations to reduce usages of each. (10%)
