Aviation Supplier Management & Procurement Quality Assurance Auditor/Engineer - West Coast Region
Job Location: San Diego, CA; Mukilteo or Seattle, WA
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO:
Corporate Quality Supervisor
Indirectly to, Supply Chain Manager and D3 Quality Manager.
INCOME:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain the Supply Chain Quality System procedures to ensure suppliers meet current and customer requirements. Provide support to Corporate Quality as needed. Specific duties include those listed below:
- Assist in maintaining Approved Processor List (APL).
- Work with Corporate QA Secretary to ensure customer lists for approved suppliers are complete and accurate.
- Process QF083 forms received from purchasing to add suppliers to the APL.
- Conduct on-site vendor site surveys as needed/required.
- Send out Quality System update surveys to suppliers annually via mail and electronically.
- Review responses to survey to determine and update ASL as appropriate.
- Determine actions taken to address unacceptable survey responses.
- Notify Supplier Manager to determine additional required actions.
- Generate the Supplier Performance Evaluation and Rating (SPEAR) report quarterly for key suppliers.
- Validate the data for the performance charts.
- Create and maintain quality performance charts for key suppliers.
- Distribute the quality performance charts to the suppliers.
- Answer any questions from the suppliers regarding the performance data.
- Provide on-site assistance to selected suppliers to develop quality performance improvement plans.
- Review and investigate Non-conforming Material Document’s (NMD) issued to/against suppliers to determine if supplier should be charged for the defect(s).
- Issue NMD to supplier for Cause/Corrective Action (C/CA) response.
- Maintain follow up to get C/CA response from suppliers.
- Approve C/CA from supplier or work with supplier to develop an acceptable C/CA.
- Coordinate with site Quality Engineers when addressing quality performance issues with a supplier.
- Assist Corporate and Plant purchasing departments in defining quality related flow down requirements to be included on P.O.’s.
- Determine if First Article Inspection (FAI) is required and to what standard.
- Determine if parts will be source inspected or inspected by receiving inspection.
- Determine if Statistical Process Control (SPC) will be required.
- Determine if special approvals are required.
- Determine if the supplier can be issued Delegated Source Authority.
- Develop matrix to provide cross reference between customer specifications and requirements to QA codes.
- Perform quality review and approval of purchase orders being issued for subcontract work.
- Coordinate Quality review actions with plants. Assure consistent processes are followed.
- Coordinate with Corporate and/or Plant Purchasing when source inspection is required to either perform the inspection or arrange for subcontract source service.
- Develop a tickler file to update system to maintain suppliers at the correct revision level for blue prints, mylars, part lists and Computer Aid Drawings (CAD).
- Perform detail part inspections using tools and aerospace engineering.
- Perform First Article Part inspections using LMI forms and AS9102 forms.
- Determine root cause and develop corrective actions for defects.
- Assist with special projects and participate on improvement teams as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENT:
- Technical College degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience or the equivalent in industry experience, education and training.
- Aerospace industry knowledge preferred.
- Inspection of detail parts, tooling and assemblies required. Aerospace inspection experience preferred
- Auditing experience required, preferably to AS9000/AS9100.
- Experience in performing root cause analysis and corrective action development preferred.
- Lead Auditor certification for AS9000/AS9100 preferred.
- Knowledge of digital systems helpful.
SKILL REQUIREMENT:
- Ability to use the internet to access customer website information
- Ability to read and interpret customer specifications
- Ability to read and interpret customer engineering (drawing and digital), purchase orders and contracts
- Ability to use AS400 query programs
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel and Access
- Knowledge of or ability to learn NMD system preferred
- Excellent Communication & Interpersonal Skills
