Engineering Manager
Job Location: Saint Marys, KS

Salary:
To $135,000
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of plant management, manages the plant engineering department. Provides guidance to the engineering department in the development of a comprehensive plant reliability and performance program. Administers engineering standards for project development, cost tracking and contract preparation and implementation. Attends selected training opportunities to improve the technical capabilities of the department. Develops a clear and effective interface between the plant and engineering to insure engineering plays an appropriate role in work order completion and plant system modification approval. Administers planning standards for the department. Supervises the department and management of capital and O&M special project budgets. Aids plant management in the development of the plant’s long term plans. Develops and manages engineering data file management systems. Improves the engineering office space and document management. Develops plant performance monitoring and improvement applications. Manages the engineer’s performance plans and career development.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and eight years of related experience, including two years of experience directing a technical workforce.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
Successful candidate must have demonstrated effective strategic and operational planning. Must have solid skills in leadership, team building, delegation, listening, decision-making, cooperation, and sensitivity to others, counseling and coaching. Requires knowledge of advanced engineering principles and mathematics. Requires an expert level of knowledge and skills in engineering and plant systems. Requires demonstrated abilities to work well in our business environment. Must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. Must be proficient in the ability to use database, spreadsheet, word processing, critical path project scheduling, and other applicable engineering software applications. Must be able to utilize PI and other appropriate software products to monitor plant systems.
Successful candidate must be able to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment to make adaptations and modifications.
