Job Description:
A leading producer of minerals for consumer, agricultural and industrial applications. Goderich, The mine employs 450 people in the production area for customers throughout the Great Lakes region in Canada and the United States.
The candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting plus 5 years of related experience with standard cost accounting, preferably in a mining or industrial environment. CMA certification is a plus.
OPERATIONS ACCOUNTANT
This position reports to the Mine Controller and is responsible for capital and financial reporting, including preparation of variance analysis. The incumbent will assist in the preparation of operating plans, forecasts and management proposals. They will work closely with the Mine Controller and the Engineering Department to ensure accurate and timely data is available for controlling, forecasting and reporting on capital projects. This involves tracking and completing transactions within the general ledger, purchasing and fixed asset systems pertaining to expenditure requisitions, closures, capitalization, depreciation and retirement of assets. They will be involved with cost and process analysis, financial period closing and reporting and internal and external audits.
