Manufacturing Engineer I

Job Summary:
Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launches on new or revised products.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
This position may involve knowledge of confidential information. Such information will be handled with the utmost discretion.
1. Improves manufacturing methods for composite parts and follows through to complete production approvals.
2. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
3. Confers with Engineering Manager and Planning concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
4. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
5. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
6. Confers with Management, Engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
7. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to write and prepare from standard to complicated written materials, reports, correspondence, etc.
2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
3. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
4. Ability to perform basic and more complicated mathematic fundamentals - add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
5. Ability to use PC computers and have command of Microsoft software - Word and Excel, PowerPoint, project management software, and others as needed. Use of company computer systems.
6. Ability to be confident in presentations and communications with customers and internal personnel.
7. Positive customer service and ability to work with others in a team setting.
8. Understanding of the inner workings of the company, and can answer questions asked by internal and external customers.
9. Strong knowledge of the aerospace industry and composites engineering.
10. Familiarity with compression molding techniques.
11. Program Management skills required to lead development of the part into production status by working with all areas of the company.
12. Strong verbal and written skills.
13. Excellent project solving skills are required.
14. Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
15. Strong motivation and self-starting initiative is required.
16. Strong technical skills are required.
17. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Kaizen, and/or Lean techniques are preferred.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills illustrated through experience.
3. Strong command of computer skills is required:
a. All Microsoft Office software used by the company
b. All related company systems - will be trained in these systems.
c. Project Management software.
d. Knowledge of composite design/manufacturing-specific software.
4. Minimum of five years of aerospace composite engineering experience is preferred.
5. Experience in Six Sigma, Kaizen and/or Lean techniques are preferred.
Work Authorization
Must qualify as a U.S. Person as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) in order to access export controlled technology.

Hazardous Materials Required Training
1. Annual RCRA training for all employees (and within six months of hire date).
2. HazCom annual training for all employees.
