Job Summary
Directs and establishes a company quality assurance system and team that promotes customer satisfaction and that positively impacts the financial performance of PlasticFab. Directs the planning and development of the total quality policies, programs, and initiatives. Directs the operations in the inspection and quality department to verify products manufactured meet the customer quality requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
This position involves knowledge of confidential information. Such information will be handled with the utmost discretion.
1. Champions continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS).
2. Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate to raise the performance of the company's production effectiveness.
3. Educates and trains employees as to their impact in the QMS. Directs the company's total quality function.
4. Directs the investigation of defective product returns, and cause and correction actions.
5. Directs the performance of customer quality audits and contract reviews.
6. Interacts with customer representatives and continuous improvement of processes to improve quality.
7. Directs the performance of quality surveys of vendors performing work for the company as required.
8. Directs the maintenance of the requirements for the AS9100, NADCAP and any other quality certification.
9. Directs the maintenance of the Quality Management System, including the training of all employees as required and the maintenance of all required documentation.
10. Manages and evaluates the data related to the tracking and trending of production problems and reports results to other management.
11. Responsible for the mechanical and physical testing of all products.
12. Develops a computerized non-conformance tracking system and captures reword costs via barcodes.
13. Develops and implements a corrective action system which identifies root causes and documents actions taken to resolve non-conformances. Performs follow up audits and ensures corrective actions were implemented.
14. Directs the maintenance of Boeing-approved process control sampling for OSU Heat and Smoke testing based on process capability using Cpk values.
15. Develops an internal audit program per AS9100 and other requirements.
16. Directs the maintenance of PlasticFab's time and temperature system as required by customer specifications.
17. Directs the maintenance of supplier approved lists and customer surveys.
18. Directs the training, performance and evaluation of all Quality employees.
19. Implements AQS programs per Statistical Process and Continuous Improvement requirements.
20. Directs the performance of quality review of production planning.
21. Directs the maintenance of inspection procedures and periodic review of inspection procedures for improvements.
22. Oversees and participates in the training of production personnel in quality techniques.
23. Plans, prioritizes and assigns work for quality employees - across multiple shifts, work centers and workloads. Schedules inspectors to meet production needs. Delegates authority to inspectors as required for planning review, procedure reviews and customer audits.
24. Directs employees in assigned areas in accordance with company policies and state/federal laws and regulations. Counsels departmental employees regarding performance, productivity, and adherence to company policies and procedures in a professional and constructive manner.
25. Manages documentation and adequate training of personnel.
26. Ensures a safe work environment and that all appropriate procedures are followed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Ability to write and prepare from standard to complicated written materials, reports, correspondence, etc.
2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
3. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
4. Ability to apply logic in problem solving for both internal and external customer. Strong problem solving skills.
5. Ability to perform more complicated mathematic fundamentals - add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform statistical calculations required in quality management.
6. Strong ability in the use PC computers and have command of Microsoft software - Word and Excel, PowerPoint, project management software, and others as needed. Use of company computer systems (with training).
7. Ability to be confident in presentations and communications with customers and internal personnel.
8. Positive customer service and ability to work with others in a team setting. Regularly works effectively, and relates well, with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside of the company. Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in Quality Science, Quality Management or related field in preferred.
2. Seven (7) to ten (10) years of composite quality management, quality supervisor, quality engineer, or lead inspector experience is required.
3. Black Belt or Green Belt in Six Sigma is preferred.
4. Experience and knowledge is needed in Six Sigma, Lean and Kaizen principles.
General: Maintain personal productivity and quality standards as determined by supervision. Follow standard departmental/company practices and procedures as outlined by management. Maintain area in a clean and orderly condition.
