Brief Description of Job Responsibilities:

Team member of department at assigned sites for all areas of neurodiagnostics services performed at Prevea as well as St Vincent and St Mary`s hospitals. On-call coverage is shared among team members. Responsible for self-development, individual and team customer service, quality improvement and supporting of both department and organization initiatives. Responsible for setting up and performing routine, ambulatory, long term and other EEG exams, intraoperative monitoring, nerve conduction studies, and evoked potential studies on patients of all ages. Attends department and clinic meetings as necessary. Monitors and assists with EEG data processing.

  • Performs routine, ambulatory, long term, ECS, and other EEG exams, IOM, NCS, EPs, and other needed testing as required
  • Ensures day-to-day operations of assigned site departments to assure a high level of productivity and customer service
  • Maintains the quality of exams, procedures and services
  • Knowledge of safety hazards common to neurodiagnostics including equipment, body mechanics and patient care
  • Performs quality control procedures and maintains records to help obtain accreditations as needed
  • Works closely with the other departments` teams and leaders as needed to ensure departments` processes provide quality patient care and customer service
  • Knowledge of neurodiagnostics documentation and coding regulations

  1. Use of electronic medical record (EMR) (may include but not limited to: documentation, referrals, scheduling, order entry, pre-certification, etc)

    4. Must possess logical thinking skills to effectively solve problems
    5. Must have good computer skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills

Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited electroneurodiagnostics program, registered or registry eligible in one of the following EEG, NCS or EPs. Successful registration is required within 2 years of employment

  1. Prefer CNIM certification or ability and willingness to certify in the next 24 months
  2. Experience in intraoperative monitoring preferred, but will train the right candidateNon-Essential Duties: Other duties as assigned within scope of practiceTypical Working Conditions: Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Typical Physical Demands:
    1. Requires full range of body motion for handling and lifting patients as well as for setting up diagnostic tests
    2. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operator keyboard and other office equipment such as copier, fax machine, printer, etc.
    3. Involves frequent standing and walking
    4. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds as needed for patient transfer (with assistance or other staff). Sometimes has to wheelchair patients with a force of up to 70lbs. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies.
    5. Requires visual acuity correctable to 20/30, normal color perception and hearing within normal range
    6. Requires exposure to bodily fluids
