Brief Description of Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for receiving customers into clinic, welcoming patients/visitors; provides direction, assistance and/or referral to support pleasant and efficient Clinic Operation.

Specialized Requirements:

  1. Welcomes patients and visitors as they enter clinic/department. Directs them to appropriate location including clinical, ancillary or business areas.
  2. Helps patients needing assistance. Transfers patients in/out of wheelchairs using body mechanics techniques.
  3. Follows clinic protocol in alerting appropriate personnel in emergency situations.
  4. Handles customer concerns in helpful, objective manner, involving manager as appropriate.
  5. Arranges for necessary transportation including cabs, clinic vans.
  6. May assist in maintaining waiting areas.
  7. Maintain lost and found.

Performance Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of customer service concepts including importance of appropriate image.
  2. Knowledge of clinic policies/procedures, department locations/personnel.
  3. Knowledge of emergency protocols.
  4. Skill in appropriate welcoming techniques.
  5. Skill in providing current directions to visitors.
  6. Skill in behaving appropriately in all situations including emergencies and use of equipment.
  7. Ability to communicate clearly and positively with all types of customers and can establish/maintain cooperative working relationships.
  8. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  9. Ability to maintain attractive lobby/waiting areas.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Minimum of one year customer service experience or volunteer position preferred.Non-Essential Duties: Other duties as assigned
  3. Typical Working Conditions:

Office setting, well-lighted, well-ventilated. May be exposed to communicable diseases.

Typical Physical Demands:

Considerable walking, standing, bending, twisting, reaching. Must be able to transfer/transport patients safely. Occasional lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination. Vision must be correctable to 20/30 and hearing must be within normal range.
