Brief Description of Job Responsibilities:

Providing exceptional care for our patients as well as recognizing the value of your co-workers is the expectation of all members of the Prevea Clinic organization. All members are expected to focus on the patient`s needs; relate to all in a friendly, accepting manner; communicate in a positive and professional way to patients and coworkers; use time effectively and efficiently; and demonstrate an overall high level of performance.

Under the direction of the Neuropsychologist, perform standardized neuropsychological testing for patients of all ages who have problems affecting brain and behavior including neurodegenerative conditions, cerebrovascular disease, MS, epilepsy, stroke, brain tumor, head injury, learning disability, ADHD, developmental disorders and other syndromes. Work closely with patients for extended periods of time.

Specialized Responsibilities:

  • Administer and score a wide variety of neuropsychological tests according to standardized methods and protocols. Produce and submit data in an accurate and timely manner. Perform calculations and reference normative tables to compute means, percentages, and other summary statistics. Enter scores and other data in databases.
  • Establish rapport with patients to ensure appropriate and comfortable conditions for conducting neuropsychological tests. Manage patient behavior and control testing environment to ensure optimal assessment validity and patient performance.
  • Observe the patient`s behavior and affect during the evaluation and record these observations clearly and concisely.
  • Maintain test equipment, testing rooms, and record forms in working condition and good supply. Perform inventory and order new supplies as necessary.

Performance Requirements:

  • Knowledge of psychology, statistics, and brain anatomy consistent with Bachelor`s level education.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent observational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to assess subtle behavioral cues and respond accordingly to promote the patient`s best performance.
  • Ability to empathize with a diverse patient population.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Skilled in time management, organization, attention to detail, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Skilled in computer usage including email, word processing, and basic spreadsheets with the capacity to learn a variety of neuropsychological assessment administration and scoring programs.Education/Experience/Certifications:
  • BA/BS required; psychology or related field.
  • Prior psychometric training desirable.Non-Essential Duties: Office setting, well-lighted and ventilated.Typical Physical Demands:

Mostly sedentary. Some standing and walking. Will sometimes push patients in a wheelchair with a force of up to 70 pounds. Occasional stress in dealing with multiple demands. Vision must be correctable to 20/30 and hearing must be within normal range.
