Brief Description of Job Responsibilities:

Providing exceptional care for our patients as well as recognizing the value of your co-workers is the expectation of all members of the Prevea Health organization. All members are expected to focus on the patient`s needs; relate to all in a friendly, accepting manner; communicate in a positive and professional way to patients and co workers; use time effectively and efficiently; and demonstrate an overall high level of performance.

Greets, instructs, directs and schedules patients. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical support staff. Makes a positive first impression on any person utilizing the Prevea Health services, whether on the phone or in person.

Specialized Responsibilities:

  • Assist callers with their medical and non-medical concerns and delegate their needs as appropriate.
  • Communicate with doctors, hospitals, and nursing homes. Messages should be dispatched to the on-call doctors as appropriate based on the set protocols. As well as update the On-call schedules through central logic.
  • Overhead page and send Zoltar alerts throughout the clinic for various reasons.
  • Obtain and update accurate demographic and insurance/coverage information.
  • Prep paper copy for on-call binder for the month.
  • Schedule appointments for patients following department protocols.
  • Complete Work queues on a daily basis.
  • Intake Price Estimate information from patients for Financial Service Representative`s to complete.
  • Attend meetings as required and follow the policies of the organization as described in the handbook.
  • Some Cash handling and the collection of any payments is required in accordance with Prevea Policies and Procedures.
  • Work closely with patient accounts regarding patients who are negligent on their bill.
  • Complete the Department Plan of Actions and Monthly case studies by required due dates.

  • Respect confidentiality of all patients.
  • Ability to work with patients of all ages in a courteous and professional manner. Must be empathetic, yet, responsive to patient`s needs.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as, in a team.
  • Ability to tactfully work with patients with past due accounts.
  • Knowledge of claims filing requirements.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient informaiton and take appropriate messages.
  • Ability to answer the telephone in a pleasant, timely and helpful manner.
  • Ability to speak clearly, concisely and professionally.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
  • Ability to multi-task in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Assertive and self directed.
  • Maintain work area in neat and orderly manner.
  • Must be willing to work at all locations, various shifts and extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Proficient telephone and computer skills.
  • Experience in customer service, insurance and/or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Medical Terminology course preferred.

Non-Essential Duties:

Other duties as assigned.

Typical Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment and involves continual contact with staff and the public. There is possible exposure to communicable diseases.

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires sitting for long periods of time. Some bending and stretching is required. Working with occasional stress and the ability to adapt to continuous change is required. Use of telephone and computers are required. Manual dexterity required for use of calculator and computer keyboard. Requires vision correctable to 20/30 and hearing must be within normal range to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.
