Scheduler
Job Location: Ocala, FL
Summary:
Responsible for scheduling multiple imaging exams for referring physicians and patients in a professional and friendly manner. Gather and input insurance data and patient demographics. Verify insurance data. Call patients to remind them of appointment time and assure proper usage of preps. Responsible for answering and screening phone calls and directing to proper areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Answers multi-line phone in a courteous and friendly manner. Directing all incoming calls to the proper areas.
Schedule appointments for multiple modalities at multiple clinical sites according to current protocols established by the radiologists - including assessing proper usage of scanners based on these established protocols.
Ensure diagnosis is appropriate for the ordered procedure following established protocols. Research and acquire additional medical history from referring physician when diagnosis is inappropriate. Document history and symptoms appropriately in schedule.
Match faxed orders to verbal orders and follow-up with referring physician to resolve conflicting information. Consult with supervisor and/or lead techs when exam and diagnosis don't conform to established protocols.
Enter patient demographic information into the computer system following Company guidelines.
Gather insurance information including authorization and referrals numbers. Enter insurance data into system assuring authorization and referrals are in proper fields. Verify insurance referrals, authorizations and benefit eligibility.
Responsible for calling patients and confirming appointments. Instruct patients on the proper usage of preps and ensure preps have been completed satisfactorily.
Direct patients to the proper site for their imaging service. When patients ask for a particular site and our protocol dictates they cannot have their service at the requested site, the scheduler must explain to the patient (in lay terms) the reason for the site designation.
Assist in training new employees/co-workers.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year minimum, preferably in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical terminology desirable. Computer experience.
