Senior Network Engineer
Job Location: Ocala, FL
Summary:
Under limited supervision of the Director of Information Technology, assesses corporate infrastructure, server systems, network security, and software and hardware needs of the corporation. Also responsible for researching, evaluating, designing, and implementing enhancements, improvements, or changes as required to all networked systems and infrastructure. Assists in establishing equipment and material requirements and performs initial testing and problem analysis. Performs network capacity planning and performance analyses of infrastructure and applications; collects network performance information and produces reports, benchmarks, and standards to maintain network and system application efficiency. Provides assistance, direction, and training to Network Administrators to facilitate team development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees and coordinates daily activities of network and system infrastructure. Provide leadership and support to IT staff as necessary. Trains department personnel in the use of LAN/WAN hardware and software.
Works with Director of Information Technology to develop operational processes, procedures, and policies to maintain system security.
Responsible for daily operations, documentation, enhancements of all hardware and software to include all PACS, voice recognition as well as network infrastructure.
Responsible for the preparation of hardware, software, or procedural documentation for department personnel during implementation.
Responsible for researching, designing, recommending, and implementation of new security systems, tools, processes or procedures. Maintains and configures security systems including review of system logs for suspicious activities. Protects against unauthorized super user accesses. Performs network and systems scans or reviews other data, as part of suspected exploitations or incident response in order to identify and address corporate vulnerabilities.
Conducts server access audits and maintain audit records. Evaluates corporate systems, which may include network equipment, computers, and applications, for appropriate security design and configuration. Advises on potential weaknesses and recommends remedial action.
Responsible network system infrastructure, including but not limited to Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Windows Update Server, internal mail systems, and clustered servers.
Researches, evaluates, and recommends utilities in the operation of corporate practice.
Determines the configuration of existing or anticipated computer equipment and electronic databases during the planning, installation, and maintenance of PC network applications
Evaluates and tests current backup policies and systems to ensure data integrity and data validity on disaster recovery media.
Evaluates, installs network applications, tests software and troubleshoots problems. Provides problem correction analysis for systems and LAN/WAN issues.
Works with Director of Information Technology to determine most efficient resource allocations.
Responsible for telecommunication connectivity (T1, Fiber, etc.)
Uses established procedures for monitoring, reporting, and responding to computer security incidents both intrusive and non-intrusive. Uses established procedures for monitoring malicious software such as viruses, worms, and Trojan horses.
Monitors and reports licenses on applications to ensure compliance on a quarterly basis.
Works with vendors to bring modalities on to the network, as well as assisting them with any connectivity problems.
Responsible for training department staff in the use and understanding of networking technologies and equipment.
Communicates clearly in both written and verbal format.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for training of department staff in the use and understanding or networking technologies and equipment and industry-standard principles.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor Degree in computer technology or related field, plus one year experience with installation and maintenance operations of networks and PC customer support. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco Certified Networking Associate certification preferred.
OR
Associate Degree in computer technology or related field plus three years experience with installation and maintenance operations of networks and PC customer support. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco Certified Networking Associate certification preferred.
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco Certified Networking Associate certification preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS:
Must posses a valid Florida Drivers License. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator and Cisco Certified Network Associate certifications.
