Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Location: Ocala, FL

SUMMARY
Providing professional, quality Nuclear Medicine Imaging services in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceutical in diagnostic studies.

Utilizes variety of equipment, to include RAO computer system, gamma camera and follows prescribed procedures.

Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses under direction of a physician.

Calibrates equipment in accordance to State regulations and RAO Nuclear Medicine policy and procedure.

Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce an image of organ on photographic film.

Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors in accordance to State regulations and RAO Nuclear Medicine policy and procedure.

Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials in accordance to State regulations and RAO Nuclear Medicine policy and procedure.

Adheres to OSHA regulations including Universal Precautions/Infection Control, Bio-Hazard Waste Management, Hazard Materials and Ergonomics.

Maintain individual credentialing.

Logs procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.

Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.

Reports equipment malfunctions and/or the need for adjustment to the Director, Clinical Operations in a timely manner.

Fills screening sheet out completely and accurately. Make sure screening sheet, order and previous reports are scanned into PACS for radiologist. Make sure notes are entered into PACS for radiologist.

Select patient name from work list or enter patient manually and use the downtime procedure for accession numbers.

When exam is done, network the appropriate images to PACS. The images will then be QA'd for quality, (window and level), annotations (RT and LT) for extremities.

Adheres to and follows PACS protocols and workflow established by RAO.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an approved program of Nuclear Medicine and at least three years previous experience performing Nuclear Medicine examinations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a current Florida License in Nuclear Medicine. Must have one of the following certifications:

* CNMT
* ARRT (N)
* ARRT (R) with three years experience in Nuclear Medicine
