Job Summary:

The RN utilizes a progressive, cooperative effort to provide both direct patient care and telephone triage. Demonstrates knowledge of standards, policies/procedures and integrates knowledge into delivery of care.

Job Description:

  • The nurse will perform in office interrogation of pacemakers, ICDs, and implantable loop recorders. This will entail complete assessment of the device to include function or leads, any arrthymias and troubleshooting as issues arises. A report will be made in Paceart system and sent to the provider to sign off.
  • Web sites for remote interrogations will be checked at least twice daily for alerts and other transmissions. Information will be entered into Paceart and sent to provider to sign off.
  • Implant information on new and replaced deices will be entered into Paceart system and EPIC. Assuring that the patient is scheduled for follow up device check appointments.
  • Nurse will provide appropriate education to patient and family including information regarding cardiac disease, meds and device function.
  • Nurse should have basic arrthymias knowledge and be able to work independently using critical thinking skills. Cardiology background and cardiac medication knowledge are highly recommended.
  • Nurse or Tech will work closely with providers for device management.
  • Flexibility in the daily work flow is needed as providers request checks, patient walk in with issues or phone calls from patients that need to be addressed.


Additional Requirements:

Required:
Education - Associates degree in Nursing
Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Preferred:
Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience
Education - Bachelors degree in NursingPhysical Requirements:
Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.Make a difference.
