Contributes to the provision of patient care through the utilization
of effective communication. Assists the nursing staff in providing efficient, effective and
safe patient care appropriate to the diagnosis and age of patient served. This is based on
the knowledge of growth and development over the life span. The duties are provided under
the direction of the nurse in accordance with accepted hospital policies, competencies and
the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act.
Job Description: Essential Functions:
Assists with and
supports patient care activities as evidenced by observation and feedback.
Completes all assigned clerical activities.
Contributes to the delivery of
patient care in accordance with the patient plan of care, utilizing age specific growth and
development guidelines as delegated by the nurse.
Participates in admission,
discharge and transfer process.
Recognizes an emergency situation and initiates
Reports immediately any changes in patient status or
condition to the nurse.
Responds to all patient call lights and communicates
patient needs to appropriate nursing personnel.
Utilizes sound judgment in the
reporting of data and in the provision of patient care.
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - South Dakota Board of Nursing, English, High School Diploma/GED Equivalent - General Studies
