Industrial Engineer Description
This Industrial Engineer position acts as a liaison between engineering, manufacturing and purchasing to maximize cost-effective design, manufacturing, and purchase of products/materials that meet performance requirements. The position works under the general direction of a division manager.
Typical duties include:
* Reviews new designs during the development of division products and recommends modifications where advisable to minimize cost and conform to production capabilities and limitations.
* Reviews Bills of Materials to determine material shapes, sizes, and quality to best utilize manufacturing capabilities.
* Reviews manufacturing operations and maintains a current project schedule which reflects current machine design requirements.
* Maintains records of Bill of Material and drawing releases.
* Provides engineering advice, compiles data and determines probable costs for process improvement projects.
* Accumulates information and prepares feasibility studies to justify purchase or building of equipment required for new manufacturing methods.
* Performs time and motion studies where applicable.
* Analyzes welding procedures and processes.
* Evaluates painting processes and recommends enhancements.
Requirements
* Good to considerable knowledge of engineering procedures applicable to the manufacture of division products, or the ability to acquire it rapidly.
* Ability to analyze designs and plan installations to meet manufacturing safety, cost containment and performance objectives.
* Ability to lead and function on a team and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, vendors, and contractors.
* B.S. degree (mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering) or the equivalent and some to considerable experience developing manufacturing procedures and designing tools (and for A level) combined with some supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and training which results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
