Leak Detection Engineer Analyst / EN031308TE-BGB
Job Location: Tulsa, OK
Description:
Leak Detection Engineer Analyst Description
Accountable for completing implementation and maintaining computer-based transient leak detection systems for NGL pipelines, within the standards required by that pipeline. These standards include timely continuous calculation of the pipeline hydraulic simulation, near real-time indicators of the model's accuracy, and proper messaging and alarming to the SCADA system. Two critical success factors in the leak detection model are timely alarms of actual operational variations outside the predicted performance of the pipeline by the model and minimal generation of false alarms. Initial duties of the successful candidate will include detailed training on a leak detection model provided by the vendor. This position will work closely with the software vendor to complete implementation of the model, including successful site acceptance testing.
The analyst will:
* Report monthly or more frequently regarding the accuracy of the model and will progressively move the model to the required level of accuracy;
* Collaborate with SCADA Analysts and Control Technology Engineers to ensure proper generation of data from field instrumentation and flow of data into and out of the model
* Provide expertise in maintaining the training material needed by controllers to properly use the transient model leak detection system
* Participate in incident investigations concerning the leak detection systems and other aspects of the pipeline, and assist with the resolution of action items involving pipeline model modifications, training and procedures or other areas as needed
* Carry out duties pertaining to operations including the leak detection model as detailed in the Magellan System Integrity Plan
* Be responsible for developing and maintaining pipeline simulators used for operator training program within Operations Control and will create training scenarios
* Interact with SCADA analysts, Controls Technology personnel, and Operations Control personnel.
Requirements
* Undergraduate college degree, BS in Engineering, Math, or Computer Science preferred.
* Hydraulic modeling and SCADA experience is strongly desired.
* A strong math background is desirable, as well as computer programming experience in current languages, and experience with control equipment including PLC programming and trouble-shooting.
