We’re looking for a Cost and Budget Analyst, try this on for size:
General scope of the Cost and Budget Analyst position:
- Manage costing information and provide accurate, timely cost management reporting and analysis. Ensure inventory and cost of goods transactions are properly recorded and accurately reflect operations. Support Manufacturing operations with analysis of budget and monthly financials. Manage and support annual budget activities and inventory valuations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
New Product Costing - Analyze new product cost estimates and costing changes for shoes in the product development or change cycle (ECR) by calculating impact of changes, computing product margins and return on investment. Create standard costs.
Budget – Coordinate the development of the annual budget for manufacturing operations. Use the operations budget to develop new cost standards and overhead rates for input to the product costing system. Assist with budgeting activities of other budgeting areas within company. (Brands Sales Plans, Logistics, and Corporate)
Existing Product Costing – Update standard costs for all products during the annual costing cycle. Ensure the integrity of the manufacturing financial and product-costing information by analyzing material usage, labor efficiency and manufacturing overhead variances on a monthly basis.
Manufacturing Performance – Prepare closing entries and analyze manufacturing results on a monthly basis. Ensure transactions are recorded properly and communicate results. Recommend and implement changes in processes to improve accuracy of reporting.
Inventory – Audit inventory variances to ensure that they are properly accounted for and charged to the correct accounts. Assist with the analysis of the cycle counts and year end physical inventories.
Annual Audit - Participate in the annual financial audit by preparing schedules that support G/L balances for raw material, WIP and finished goods inventories. Provide analysis that explains manufacturing costs and supports the LIFO inventory reserve calculation.
Special Projects - Serve on Lean Project Teams and participate in reviewing cost reduction alternatives. Research and prepare cost justifications and cost analysis (make/buy/lease, new machines, shoe manufacturing location, etc.). Make recommendations based on analysis.
Education And Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university and zero to four years experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses, Certificates Or Knowledge:
Computer literacy, analytical and problem solving skills, Good written/verbal/interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks and knowledge of GAAP.
