Red Wing Shoe Company is looking for a Product Development Manager to create and manage the implementation of the vision for Red Wings International product development, delivery and service. This position manages the activities of internal product support staff and external resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working in conjunction with the Brand and Merchandising teams, plan the product assortment from concept to delivery based on sound market research identifying product / consumer trends and competitive analysis.
Become an internal expert on EN and other International regulatory requirements.
Responsible for development and upkeep of product costing each season, and managing the development process to ensure target product costs are met.
Prepare seasonal competitive reviews of the Intl work footwear market.
Develop and maintain the product development cycle and timeline.
Direct internal and external resources to design, develop, launch, deliver, and service products as planned.
Work with project leaders to manage the development schedule and achieve critical timelines.
Work with Sourcing to identify new manufacturing facilities to support broader push into Intl standards manufacturing.
Achieve financial objectives relating to product and merchandising by forecasting requirements, preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions.
Assure that all product development complies with the RWSC Product Development Process and Quality Standards.
Direct and supervise the production and delivery of sales and photography samples.
Present / communicate the product assortment and technical feature / benefit information to internal and external customers.
Assist with creation of business plans and policies.
Assist marketing department in the concept and development of relevant marketing material.
Extensive travel as necessary to accomplish the sales and marketing goals of the division and corporation.
Participate in company directed activities to accomplish the goals of the division and corporation.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtain necessary information by maintaining knowledge of RWSCs electronic communication software.
Maintain quality service by establishing, following, and enforcing quality system standards (ISO).
Uphold Red Wing Shoe Companys core values.
Complete other duties as assigned from time to time by your manager.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, classes or programs.
Conduct self according to RWSC policies/Handbook.
CUSTOMERS
Internal: Work/Hunt Brand and Sales management; administrative and sales staff; Executive Team; Customer Service; Purchasing; Logistics; Warehousing; Marketing Services (all areas); Quality Assurance; Finance; Accessories; Holding Company
External: Red Wing Dealer Network and Distributors; Consumers; Agents; Vendors; Attorneys; and Media.
Requirements EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree (B.A/B.S) from four-year college or university and five to seven years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Masters degree (M.A./M.S./M.B.A.) is preferred.
Five to ten years of experience in product development environment.
Experience with Intl footwear standards (ISOEN & Others) and testing.
Two to three years of experience in the safety industry or footwear industry.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated team building and/or leadership success
Demonstrated participation in successful product launch
Good written and oral communication
Knowledge of footwear manufacturing
PC skills and knowledge of RWSC PC software
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR KNOWLEDGE
Passport, Valid Drivers License
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Business office, factory visits and trade show booth environments with travel (domestic and international) and work hours as needed to accomplish the goals.
