3 rd Shift Environmental Technician

Our business is strong and growing and were looking for more great talent to share in our success! Were looking for an Environmental Operator to join our team in Green Bay, WI.

The Environmental Operator handles the operation of the wastewater treatment and air handling systems. The wastewater role ensures compliance with regulations, conservation of water, and optimizes chemical use. The air treatment role limits, as much as possible, the probability of odor complaints by ensuring scrubbers are operating within designed parameters and maintaining the chemical feed system. This role is integral in supporting the plant to run efficiently while managing environmental risks and costs.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform daily checks and tests such as PH levels of scrubbers, MLSS (solids) levels, chemical feed rates, etc.

  • Perform visual inspections of DAFs, aeration tank, and scrubber flows

  • Monitor chemical feed systems for leaks, air locking, or other issues

  • Participate in preventative maintenance on wastewater and air chemical feed systems, submit work order requests as appropriate

  • Ensure chemical supplies are adequate, replace or notify designated personnel as needed, take regular inventory levels

  • Maintain cleanliness of all responsible areas: chemical feed room, wastewater, effluent, etc.

  • Conduct sampling and testing as required by regulatory permits such as storm water quarterly sampling and semi-annual metals testing

  • Monitor poly feed and feed rate of waste activated sludge removal system (SOMAT), adjust the speed as appropriate for wastewater and plant conditions

  • Investigate and troubleshoot in the event of an odor complaint, perform initial response procedures to minimize chance of confirmed odor complaint

  • Complete daily shift report, and ensure good communication during shift hand-off

  • Notify engineering or plant personnel for troubleshooting or of critical issues

The right person for this role is interested in environmental systems and processes, has some background in chemistry, and would like to develop their knowledge further with a great company. A 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience in water treatment and/or scrubber systems preferred. Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify patterns and make logical conclusions helpful. Willingness to pursue state certifications in time also desired. The ideal candidate is a hands-on learner with good communication skills who is able to work independently on third shift.
