Description
Primary Purpose

Conducts a wide range of strategic marketing activities necessary to meet departmental goals. Activities include but are not limited to: strengthening and/or building association, agency and policyholder relationships through effective sales and marketing programs and advertising campaigns to drive profitable results and support the companys sales efforts; communicating, coordinating and attending trade shows; developing and maintaining collateral materials; overseeing agency training and developing the companys brand based on thought leadership strategies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develops staff by coaching, mentoring, technical training, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintains staff by interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Completes necessary administrative work by (including, but not limited to) approving time cards on a bi-weekly basis; approving PTO and flextime requests as appropriate; completing yearly salary administration and SMART goals; operating within departmental and company guidelines and standards.
  • Assists management in developing effective sales and marketing strategies to support companys efforts to profitably increase market share and retain customers based on corporate plan.
  • Completes competitive analysis to improve or launch new programs based on department strategies.
  • Stays abreast of changes in the marketing environment to best serve the objectives of the company and adjusts plans accordingly.
  • Obtains and oversees all association endorsement partnerships while acting as the first line of contact for partner associations by responding to complaints, questions, advertising, and agreements to build and maintain these relationships.
  • Oversees all advertising and branding functions of the business while ensuring a positive corporate reputation in the marketplace.
  • Monitors performance, response and return on investment of marketing programs to ensure they bring value to the company.
  • Coordinates all internal and external marketing communications.
  • Provides lead support for sales efforts.
  • Acquires and maintains trademarks.
  • Develops, coordinates and maintains marketing training and communications with internal and external partners (agency, policyholder) to ensure seamless program introduction, enhancements and roll out to the field.
  • Develops and maintains agency automation by implementing effective technology plans or enhancements based on agency needs and corporate goals.
  • Coordinates and makes necessary arrangements for various events such as but not limited to association trade shows, agent trade shows (all states), agency meetings, and agents golf outing.
  • Organizes all company events and attends trade shows; maintains, coordinates, and ships booths for these events throughout the year.
  • Participates in the Products and Services Committee to develop and/or enhance new products and services.
  • Purchases, maintains, and distributes promotional items.
  • Ensures customer service by assisting agents with website issues.
  • Develops and maintains all sales materials.
  • Acts as the primary marketing contact person to work with Information Systems department on all technology projects.
  • Ensures that agency listings and terminations are in compliance with state laws and regulations.
  • Responds to telephone solicitation from outside vendors seeking Societys business.
  • Contributes to overall Marketing function by completing a variety of assigned projects with accuracy and timeliness.

Required:

  • Bachelor degree in business, marketing or insurance.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in multi-media marketing.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in insurance marketing/sales including knowledge of the independent agency system.
  • Excellent project management with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with an ability to establish plans with no existing roadmap.
  • Superb relationship skills and communication skills with proven ability to influence, lead and negotiate within a variety of scenarios.
  • Demonstrated word processing, spreadsheet and website administration skills.
  • Valid drivers license and a satisfactory driving record (based on Society Insurances guidelines).

Preferred:

  • CPCU and CIC designation.
  • Underwriting and/or claims experience.
  • Working knowledge of commercial insurance products and trade associations within Societys niche markets.
