EDUCATION, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE EQUIREMENTS: - Degree in engineering, operations management, logistics or related field - 7+ years experience in materials planning, scheduling and forecasting in an automotive related industry. - Prior experience in an automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 environment - Strong working knowledge of Lean methodology and deployment strategies including value stream mapping and analysis, continuous improvement, PFEP, delivering material in pitches and development of super markets. - Strong Six-Sigma/Lean manufacturing experience as a materials, logistics or supply chain manager - Experience creating lean material flow throughout the plant value stream. - Demonstrated successful expertise for incorporating the principles and practices of Lean manufacturing to bring about quantifiable improvements in cost, quality, delivery and safety. - Strategic thinking and execution skills with the experience and judgment to plan and accomplish operating objectives within a complex and fast paced manufacturing environment. - Proficient in SAP warehouse management. - Six-Sigma green belt certification - Proven experience supervising professionals in supply chain management and logistics functions - Continuous improvement philosophy - Fluency in all Microsoft office suite applications including Excel data manipulation and analysis experience. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Development and implementation of approved policies, objectives and programs related to the flow and cost of materials throughout the manufacturing operation - Specific accountability for the production and inventory control, warehousing, shipping and receiving and material handling functions to ensure that program and organization objectives are successfully met. - Leads the development and implementation of lean principles and processes within the materials/logistics function - Manages the daily assignments within the shipping/receiving and material storage areas to ensure the appropriate, efficient and effective execution of those assignments - Monitor and manage the flow of raw materials, WIP and finished materials in and out of the warehouse as needed and anticipate and report concerns, inefficiencies and shortages - Lead and coordinate communication and understanding between marketing, engineering, and the procurement team on plant capacity and capability as related to customer demand - Interface with the procurement team on lead-time reduction for purchased parts, make vs. buy decisions, need for subcontracting, or raw material replenishment needs. - Perform root cause problem resolution and analysis. Provide expertise and direction to materials function team members on the use of proper tools (Kanban, order point, bin stock, etc.) to match various lead times of products/parts to ensure that customer commitments are met and cost and inventory are minimized. - Train and develop the organization to ensure understanding of critical concepts of lean, world class materials management. - Develop management strategies and robust systems to ensure that inventory levels (raw, wip, fg) meet inventory goals/requirements in terms of cost, storage, manufacturing and demand support. - Identify and execute the most cost-effective and timely import/export logistical and transportation programs. Coordinate logistics with other internal functions to meet customer requirements and operation financial goals. - Keep abreast of legal and regulatory requirements and changes as applicable to the organizations transportation program - Consistently utilize six-sigma skills and lean principles to drive continuous improvement within the materials management function - Analyze consumption trends, plan complex and/or long-lead time materials or processes to ensure satisfaction of manufacturing and customer demand. - Provide capacity and production planning support. - Ensure the appropriate training and development of personnel to meet organization needs.
