This position is responsible for research and development of new composite processes and resolution of composite manufacturing production problems. Technology development will be focused on the advancement of composite fabrication processes as related to propulsion structures and associated process tooling. Applicant will be involved in the testing and development of new composite processes and techniques that support preproduction/ production of future composite structure. Specific assignments may include: fabrication of structural proof of concepts possibly using resin infusion, resin transfer molding, cure optimization, tooling support, automated lay-up systems, and material/process specification development. A minimum of 4 years of applicable experience or equivalent education is desired.

Position Requirements
Applicant should have 4 years applicable experience in composites manufacturing technology, composites manufacturing R&D, nonmetallic Materials & Process Engineering, and/or composite product/process development fields, preferably in the aerospace industry. Specific knowledge of polymer formulations, fiber tow placement, filament winding, composite tooling and associated processes is a benefit.

Experience supporting implementation of composite manufacturing process improvements or IR&D/CR&D initiatives. Applicant should have experience supporting the preparation and execution of detailed projects plans (tasks, schedule, and budget), and effectively communicate the status and results of the technology development.

Ability to participate in the development and implementation of manufacturing concepts, specialized equipment, related software, and production-ready manufacturing processes. Must assure project complies with customer requirements, specifications, company policies, and related governmental regulations.

Apply hands-on experience with composite lay-up (hand and/or automated methods), tooling methods, production procedures, composite material types/forms, and engineering requirements to evaluate and enhance processes, products, and materials.

Must possess written and verbal skills necessary to be able to effectively work within an integrated product team environment. Applicant must possess teaming skills, interpersonal social skills, strong ethics, and good work habits. Experience with composite structural fabrication methods is beneficial. Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Materials, Chem., Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering required. Engineering program must be ABET accredited. Specialized knowledge of advanced composite fabrication processes. Some travel may be required to fulfill job requirements. Must be U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident. Experience with industry Material & Process specifications is beneficial. Knowledge of CATIA/composite analysis/process simulation tools is beneficial. Must be able to coordinate/collaborate with international partners to transfer or enable emerging fabrication technologies.
