Spartanburg Water has an opening for a Technology Manager. The successful candidate for this position will under general supervision, is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Process Control (SCADA) and Information Technology staff. Will coordinate with the various departments and sections of Spartanburg Water [more] to identify, define the components of, and manage technology support and projects. Reports to the Director of Information Technology.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
Manages and directs the operational aspects of Information Technology and Process Control staff, and evaluates performance and results.
Duties include instructing, assigning and reviewing work, maintaining standards through effective planning and coordination of activities, completing performance appraisals, allocating personnel, making recommendations for new employee selection, developing staff and managing routine personnel situations.
Ensures that assigned employees understand and comply with Spartanburg Water policies and procedures and that all work is in accordance with established standards.
Provides adequate training for technology staff to ensure a safe and secure work environment. Ensures all training records are properly documented. Conducts required audits of programs. Submits reports to Director of Information Technology as required to ensure compliance with safety programs. Conducts required safety observations.
Supervises and participates in the research, development, evaluation, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems and program configurations for use in Spartanburg Water operations.
Implement and/or oversee the implementation of SCADA projects and modifications including, but not limited to, various industrial instruments, Allen Bradley and Modicon PLCs, and Wonderware software.
Implement and/or oversee the implementation of information technology initiatives, including, but not limited to, security, server/network administration, and database administration.
Works with departments in developing new business processes for the users of information systems within the company. Assists with the selection and implementation of selected information systems. Will participate in data conversion project planning on selected applications throughout the company.
Informs managers in other departments of program configuration changes, updates and implementations. Reviews outputs for accuracy to determine potential errors. Initiates changes or adjustments as necessary.
Responsible for participating in weekly staff meetings and providing updates on assigned projects and tasks. Communicates with assigned staff regularly, including frequent field visits.
Analyzes existing business processes to match process needs with database development options and makes recommendations regarding best business solution for requested system enhancements.
Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports, including program specification requests, service requests, attendance reports, event logs, performance appraisals, procedures, memos, correspondence, etc. Is responsible for the management and tracking of Microsoft licensing. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Director of Information Technology, Directors, other department managers and supervisors, the CEO, COO, CPO and CFO, and employees, subordinates, professional peers, sales and service representatives, and consultants.
Serves as a project manager for technology projects. Projects will cover all aspects of technology, including process control, and any other project defined by management.

Education Requirements (Any)
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or related field.
Additional Information / Benefits
Requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field with a minimum of five years supervisory/leadership experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be able to demonstrate base proficiency in server/network administration and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Certifications are highly desired. Utility experience is a plus. Must possess valid drivers license.
