Director, Software Engineering (AV-3-20-3)

• Responsible for the management of the Software Engineering Skill Center. Composed of a staff of 200 in support of an industry leader in designing secure, high rate embedded communication systems for a vast array of military and commercial applications.
• Position functions within a matrix organizational structure and supports 5 separate business entities.
• Often required to collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the design, development and utilization of electronic data processing and communication systems software.
• Responsible for technical (software) liaison at the highest levels of the organization.
• Responsible for employee training and development, performance assessment, work assignments and assisting with employee recruitment.
• Responsible for all project assigned to the organizational directorate. Acts as an advisor to subordinate managers or staff members to help meet established schedules or resolve technical or operational problems. Submits and administers budget schedules and performance standards.
• Coordinates activities of the skill center so they mesh well with the overall objectives of the business. Assures a directorate maturity of CMMI 3+.

• BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
• 10-15 years Software Engineering Experience (Communications).
• 5 years first line engineering management experience.
• Good understanding of Business Development, proposal development and Program Management.
• Effective presentation skills.
• Proven leader with strong influence skills.
• Active security clearance.

• MS in CS, CE or EE.
• Process Orientation.
• Excellent team building skills
• Ability to effectively integrate across organizations.
