Cable Modem Product Applications Engineer (Hardware/Software)
Job Location: San Diego, CA
Salary:
$100,000 - $140,000
Description:
This position requires a BSEE, MSEE a plus, and a minimum of 7 years of hardware/software (embedded systems) development. A minimum of 2 years experience in hardware semiconductor applications engineering is preferred. Experience with digital modulation schemes, RF communication IC’s, networking protocols, and video Set Top Box products are essential. Skills, and duties, include hardware design, hardware support, IC debug, Hardware layout recommendations, and development kit and reference design support. This individual should be familiar with schematic capture and PCB layout tools, along with production layout issues for digital and RF systems. Individual should be familiar working with C, assemble, and a variety of RTOS’s. This individual must have experience working with customers in the early phases of development defining reference designs and development boards, as well as providing post-sales customer engineering support. Occasional travel for on-site customer support and trade show demonstrations is required.
Job Requirements:
Required Skills and Experiences
• Perform Hardware design reviews for both internal and external customer designs.
• Experienced with QPSK, QAM, and DVB-S2 Modulation Schemes.
• Experienced with DVB-S2, DVB-C, ITU-J83B, and DOCSIS standards.
• Knowledge of digital baseband demodulator layout and design issues.
• Assist customers in debugging driver code related to the system cable modem interface.
• Debug customer hardware & firmware issues and track the changes through engineering. Document appropriate ECN’s within engineering or outside engineering services companies.
• Write appropriate documentation to support Conexant’s reference designs and development kits
• Create HW/SW related customer support documents, application notes, and FAQ’s.
• Work with Engineering to implement hardware/software release standards and track hardware/software revision history among customers who have Conexant’s development kits and reference designs.
